Basic Tee

McCall’s M6964 views “B” and “D”

This was a really easy and quick pattern to sew! The floral long sleeve is the pattern as-is with no alterations aside from lengthening the sleeves and the hem. The white short sleeve shirt is view B with the sleeves lengthened by an inch or so and the neckline altered to be a scoop neck. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law love their new shirts!

Kimono Cardigan

Kimono Cardigan. Pattern: Simplicity 1108, view “B”.

This is one of my favorite patterns to make. It’s really simple and comfortable in a wide range of fabrics, but I especially love it in knits. I’ve made this 3 times and it’s great to make for gifts. It’s not a pattern made for knits, but I find it so comfortable when made from a medium weight knit.

Plaid Shirt Dress

The sleeves were about an inch too short for my arms so I keep them rolled up when I wear this. I love the pockets on this and it’s one of my go-to winter outfits!

Flannel

McCall’s M6044 view “E” without pockets.

The first draft I made of this shirt (size small) turned out way smaller than I expected it to. I had already cut the pattern, so to make a larger size, I just added a few inches here and there to make it a more comfortable, loose fit. It was a gift for my mom and it ended up fitting her nicely! Being a dress shirt pattern, there were quite a few steps involved in making this. It wasn’t the easiest pattern, but I figured it out. Next time, I might make a larger size and adjust the fit as needed.

Aztec Print Shorts

High-waisted shorts in an Aztec-inspired print jacquard fabric. Pattern: Simplicity 1371, view “D”

The loose fit in the leg was something to get used to, but these shorts are super fun to wear! The only thing I’m not a fan of is how puffy it looks in the front with those pleats, although I’m not sure how one could change that and still have room to move. These would probably look great in a more flowing/draping fabric, but I liked how everything worked out and I ended up wearing them in both summer and winter.
